A Granite Dining Table for a Dining Room

Once a staple of simple counter tops or trip, granite pieces have become popular for indoor and outdoor tables. A colorful design of a granite table can draw attention towards the center of the room, while the style contrasts well with any color decoration tone.

Granite has traditionally been used for counter top spaces due to the strength and character of the stone. Granite is an incredibly strong building material, capable of bearing up to a ton of weight on only one inch worth of thickness. Granite tabletops work well as the load bearing capability of the stone allows for large meal options and any number of guests.

Granite is a metamorphic rock, meaning that it was formed over the course of millions of years under incredible heat and pressure. For all the perks of granite, it is among the most expensive stones on the market at anywhere from twenty five to thirty dollars per square foot. An average dining table may easily exceed four hundred dollars. In addition, it is extremely heavy and should not be lifted or moved by only one person.

For the cost, it is often considered best to compliment and showcase a granite table. You need not purchase table cloth or coasters, as the stone can take any damage and stains are easily wiped away. Crystal stemware appears lovely on granite, as the sheen of both materials will reflect one another in proper light. Additionally, candles or low lighting allow a stone table to glow, with the shadows adding further contrast to the tone of granite material. For dark or light granite, a minimum of light will set off the color scheme while still providing enough to see the food. Using polished silver, in addition, will further spread the soft lighting contrast about and compliment the feel of any dining room.
