Monogram Cake Toppers: The Pros And Cons

For most people having something monogrammed shows not only pride in their name but also a sense of flair.  People just like having their initials on things.  The only time where someone would probably NOT like it, is if their initials spelled out something bad.  There are some unfortunate folks with initials similar to MOO, COW or PIG.  In that case, probably having initials brightly embroidered across a sweater or purse would NOT be a good idea.  Monogram cake toppers have been around for years, and are especially used for wedding and anniversaries where they symbolize the family name and tradition.

You can have mom and dad celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary and on top of the beautiful cake is the initial of their last name.  What pride and dedication that represents to the rest of the family when two people can come together for so long.  Weddings are another instance where their use might be appropriate to signify the coming together of two young people in union under one name. The significance the monogrammed cake topper represents to the couple is important.  They are sentimental items that can be displayed and kept around for years.

What if the wedding union is a blended family or second wedding when children are involved?  The mother’s children having one name (the biological father’s) but she will now have a different last name than them.   If a monogrammed cake topper is used then the children will most likely feel left out.  The marriage union is of the whole family in the case of blended families.  There is pride in the new name but displaying it on a wedding cake may not necessarily always be the best idea.

Monogram cake toppers can be beautifully presented and displayed or in some cases not used at all.  Weddings and anniversaries are celebratory moments in time and everyone including children should be able to feel the pride that the union itself brings together.
