Your Knowledge, Your Karma | Petrol Go Carts

Petrol Go Carts

The other day my friends and I were watching an old movie and laughing about little kids on go karts and how cute they looked. That led to a discussion of why they are dangerous. That got us to thinking about our childhoods and what crazy things we did. We had bikes, old fashioned bikes. We had skateboards, nothing fancy, and some kids made their own. Remember, we were not informed about helmets and the need for safety. We all survived, with some minor cuts and bruises maybe a broken bone here and there.

Now that we are adults and have kids of our own things are different. We only want the best for our kids and that means keeping them safe above all. When you buy your kid a bike, you also pick up a new helmet without even thinking about it. It is part of keeping your kid safe and obeying the laws!

But what about a petrol go cart. Are they any more or any less dangerous than riding a bike? You can have a serious accident on a bike just as easily as with a go kart. Sure, you can get hit by a car walking down the street. Or you might flip a go kart over and roll it a few times. But you can have a go kart, be safe in the operation of the kart and still have fun. Your kids need rules and safety instructions when it comes to go karts.

I think that if you get a petrol go kart for your kids and they operate it correctly, they can still have fun. I do not recommend riding a go kart down a city street or highway, which is against the law. Let’s say you have a few acres of property out in the country. You can make some safe go kart trails on your own property where you can watch the kids, and participate with them.

Whether you get a new or used go kart, make sure to check it out thoroughly. Be sure it is operating property. Make sure your kids and their friends all understand the rules that you set forth for your go kart trails. They must wear helmets and any other safety equipment that is required. It is up to you, the grown up, to be right out in the action with them and be alert as to possible trouble.

Go karts can be fun, as long as they are taken seriously by you and the kids who ride them
