Why Use an Outdoor Rug
If you have a garden and are interested in home design, you will be aware of the trend in recent years for ever more sophisticated garden furniture and for turning any patch of green into an outdoor living space, complete with beautiful sofas and rugs and sometimes even an outdoor kitchen.
This type of outdoor area certainly gives a focal point to any garden and it provides a chance to decorate one more “room” for those of us who love to play around with styles and colors to create something special.
Flooring is always an important aspect of any space and when you start to decorate your outdoor room, you have the choice of stopping with your patio or decking surface or covering it with an outdoor area rug.
So why choose a rug?
First all all, garden rugs add style and color which is impossible with the neutral stone of the patio or wood of the deck, beautiful though they are in their own way. You can use your rug as the basis for a whole color scheme for your outdoor room, picking out colors from the rug for patio cushions and other accessories. As for design, your outdoor rug can set the style for your patio. It may be in a country style for example, if you choose something like a braided rug or a very modern style if you choose a contemporary rug with a bold design.
Secondly, a rug adds softness and comfort to your patio or decking which marks it out as a room rather than as a simple area of the back yard where you have placed garden furniture. If you have young children, the soft surface will give them a safe and comfortable space to sit and play and if you like to go barefoot you will appreciate it too.
Finally, a rug reduces noise levels. There will be no chairs scraping over the stone patio surface or feet clattering as they go inside if you have an outdoor rug in the right places in your garden. You can hear the sounds of leaves rustling in the trees and birds singing instead which is much more conducive to relaxing in your garden.
